Captain's Address
Thurles Golf Club has given me many years of sport and friendship. It is now my chance to give back some service to this Club and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to do so by Donal, last year's Captain.
Members and visitors this year will have the benefit of the more settled new first nine. Many of the snags which always accompany a new development will have been dealt with and we look forward to playing what must be described as a top class golf course. For the enjoyment of all I appeal to members and visitors alike to repair damage caused by divots, pitch marks and especially to repair any damage caused in sand bunkers. It is important to note that only soft spike golf shoes may be worn on the course.
I wish to thank everyone who put themselves forward to act on the various club committees. I urge all members to be supportive of them. A little support and encouragement is often much appreciated.
Finally I believe that friendship, camraderie and a welcoming atmosphere are essential attributes of any good golf club. Each individual member has the capacity to make their own contribution to such a club. I appeal to everyone to bear this in mind when entering Thurles Golf Club. I wish all members good health and an enjoyable year's golf.
